Scheduling and posting

Picking a time, moving a post you already scheduled, and why one is waiting for approval.

How do I choose when a post goes out?

The composer gives you three: Now, Queue (the next free slot in your posting schedule — the composer shows you which, so it isn't a blind choice), and Schedule.

There are no queue slots until you set some. Choose them under Project settings → Queue, where you can also randomize each slot by up to ten minutes so your posts don't land on the same minute forever. Until a schedule exists, Queue has nothing to offer and says so.

How do I move a post I already scheduled?

Drag it on the calendar. In month view, dropping it on another day keeps its time of day; in week or day view you're dropping it on a specific hour. Hovering a slot also gives you a + Post shortcut that opens the composer with that time filled in.

You can move anything that hasn't gone out yet — scheduled or waiting for approval. Drafts have no slot, so they aren't on the calendar; give one a time from the composer. You can't schedule into the past, and a post that's mid-way through going out stays where it is.

How close to the scheduled minute does it actually publish?

xpost looks for due posts every minute, so a post normally leaves within a minute of its time.

After that it's the platform's clock, not ours. Some platforms accept a post immediately and publish it a moment later — the account's row on the post's own page reads Posting… until the platform confirms, and only then turns to Posted, rather than us guessing. If a platform stays silent for half an hour the row says No word back, and the next check settles it one way or the other.

Does my agent's post wait for me?

Not by default. A project starts on autopilot: a post your agent creates goes out at its time, or straight away if it wasn't given one.

You still see it. A post set for more than a few minutes ahead is emailed to you when it's created — the post as it will look, with a link to its page where you can change or cancel it; a burst of posts is rolled into one letter — and one that's already gone comes back as a receipt with a way to take it down. Both are the Posts your agent sends on its own switch under Project settings → Notifications.

Want the old behaviour? Switch the project to copilot under AI agent in the sidebar, and every agent post waits in Approvals until someone says yes. Posts you write yourself go straight out in either mode — unless your seat is a composer seat, whose posts always wait for an approver. Drafts are never held, and sharing a post on a review link doesn't hold it either.

Still stuck? Ask a person.

Email support@xpost.to. If it’s about a post that went wrong, the fastest thing you can send is the link to it from Posts → Needs you — that page already has the platform’s own error text on it.
