What is an MCP server for social media?

MCP — the Model Context Protocol — is the standard way to hand an AI assistant a set of tools. A social media MCP server is one that gives it posting tools: connect it and your assistant can write, schedule and publish to your accounts, and read back what happened.

How do I add the xpost MCP server to Claude or ChatGPT?

In Claude, Cursor or Claude Code, paste https://xpost.to/api/mcp wherever the client asks for a connector or an MCP server, then sign in when your browser opens. In ChatGPT, xpost is in the plugin directory — add it there and sign in. There is no key to copy and no file to edit. Is it a hosted server or do I run it myself?

Hosted, at the address above, over Streamable HTTP. There is also a local stdio server for clients that need one — the connector reference covers it.

Can an agent publish without me?

No. Anything an agent creates lands in the approval queue, and approval is a human action taken in the dashboard or in the chat. No key, tool or prompt can skip it, and your brand rules are checked before a draft is even created.

Which networks can it post to?

X, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, YouTube, Facebook, Threads, Bluesky and Pinterest — the same nine as the dashboard, with the same per-network shapes, limits and previews.

Does the MCP server cost extra?
