Connect xpost to ChatGPT

ChatGPT calls a connection like this a plugin. xpost is in ChatGPT's plugin directory, so adding it takes two steps and no setup: find it, sign in. After that you can ask ChatGPT to write a post and publish it to any account you have connected — and every post still passes your brand guardrails and, in copilot mode, waits for your approval.

Open xpost in ChatGPT
Open the xpost plugin page and press Add. If the link does not land you there, open Plugins in ChatGPT and search for xpost.
There is nothing to copy and no address to paste. That was the old way of adding a plugin ChatGPT had not reviewed, and it is no longer how this works.

Sign in to xpost and allow it
ChatGPT offers Sign in with xpost. That opens our own page: pick which project ChatGPT may post to, then press Allow.
One connection reaches one project — the one you pick here. To point ChatGPT at a different project, disconnect it under Project → AI agent → Keys and sign in again, choosing the other project.

How to know it worked

The plugin's own page lists our tools under Actions — create_post, list_accounts and the rest. If that list is empty, press Refresh; it is fetched, not stored.

Then start a new chat. A conversation you opened before connecting cannot see the tools at all, however correctly everything is set up — ChatGPT decides what a chat can reach when the chat begins. Naming xpost in your first message is the surest way to have it used.

Whatever the assistant drafts goes through the same path as a post you write yourself: brand guardrails run on every one, and in copilot mode it lands in Approvals and waits for you. An assistant can never approve its own post. The connection shows up under Project → AI agent → Keys as “connected by signing in”, with a Disconnect button that ends it immediately.

What to ask it

Name the account and the platform. ChatGPT reads the accounts it is allowed to see, so it does not need telling twice.

It is added, but ChatGPT says it cannot see it

Almost always the chat is older than the connection. Tools are bound when a conversation starts, so a chat opened before you added xpost stays blind to it. Start a new chat and name xpost in the first message.

ToolError: FORBIDDEN: This conversation does not support developer MCPs

This is ChatGPT refusing a plugin its plan will not call. It applied to plugins added by hand in developer mode; if you see it after adding xpost from the directory, tell us — it is worth knowing about, and Claude connects the same way in the meantime.

It posts to the wrong project

The project is chosen on our sign-in page in step 2, not anywhere in ChatGPT. Disconnect it under Project → AI agent → Keys and sign in again, picking the project you meant.
